The guild rules/charter

A streamlined guild charter

Who are we?

Legendary Mercenaries is a guild on the Gaheris server of Dark Age of Camelot. Through the years it has had several changes, and we are still going strong today despite the odds. As such, those of us still around and in charge would like to keep this old relic in pristine condition.

As a guild we are all about the 'royal sampler'. We have crafters, raiders, explorers, advisers, soloers, group friendly peeps, keep killers, scale farmers, glass farmers, moisture farmers, the silly, the serious, the loud, the quiet, and Methodists!

As you can see there is something for everyone here. To our old hands, you should know the drill (we keep it in the shed for drilling stuff), and to our new recruits, you don't know the drill, which is why this is being written.

The Rules, such as they are

Rules are rules, and if they work, they should be simple and effective. Our name floats above your head and when you do stuff that besmirches our name, we have to go and kill all the witnesses... I mean we have to smooth things over. We don't like extra work so we have a simple code of conduct laid out before you like a buffet (a good one, not some crappy buffet like Golden Corral with that chocolate fountain that you know like a million kids put their hands, tongues, and God knows what else in)

1- Don't be a jerk. Simple. Elegant. As Bill and Ted would say, 'be excellent to each other'

2- Keep it PG13. Humor is subjective, and until I am Supreme Emperor of all of Earth, that is how it will remain. Just look up what makes a PG13 movie PG13 and you will have a good idea how far you can push it in chat, keep the f-bombs, c-bombs, and s- bombs to none at all, keep the other 'sentence enhancers' to a minimum (a 'hell' or 'damn' happens now and then, we get that), and keep in mind that some things may be offensive when you say them.

3- No begging. That means don't ask for powerlevels, don't ask for gold, don't ask for items. Just don't. To be clear, offering to buy something or asking for help on a quest or farming is NOT begging. Someone wants to offer free this or that, then you can say “may I have that something you are offering” But it has to be their idea

4-Do not go /anon. It makes people angry. Especially Nabs. We all like to keep Nabs on the friendly side of angry, help us out here

5- /gc noteself all your new toons. Again, Nabs gets irritable when we don't know who your new shiny toon is. Just make sure you make either a short note saying “alt of such and such” or a long note that has your main character's name at the beginning of it somewhere, preferably within the first 4 words of your note. Once you note your toon, that toon will be promoted to rank 8 for /as privileges.

6- Do not abuse the open vaults. You are not the only member of the guild. Others need those potions and items too. Take what you need and nothing more.

7- Real life is king. If someone has to go or cannot be on because of something in real life then that needs to be respected.

8- No Guild Masters may have characters in ANY other guild, whether in the Legendary Mercenaries alliance or not. Exceptions would include a placeholder getting auto promoted or a guild created by a player to make a second house in the same zone (for instance there are guilds named Trilogist and Pentegarn that have a single member that never gets played, they allow 2 houses with the same name to exist)

9- Any player that exhibits a 'loss of positive control' of their account will NOT be promoted above the Rank of Chief (Guild Rank 5). Loss of positive control is defined as 'the permission of parties unknown to the Officers to use one's Dark Age of Camelot account'.

10- If an officer tells you that you are breaking the rules, do not argue with the officer about it. They are officers for a reason. If you feel they made an error in judgment, then you can privately take your grievance to a Commander or a GM and let them handle it.

11-We are the alliance leader. Therefore represent LM in a respectful manner. Should an instance occur where you run into drama, please let an officer know.

Discipline

While not pleasant, sometimes it becomes necessary to drop the hammer on an unruly person. When a rule is violated the following actions will usually be taken

1st violation- Verbal warning
2nd violation (same rule)- Demotion to rank 9
3rd violation (same rule)- Removal from guild

There will be exceptions, like if someone is violating multiple rules in a short span of time we may have to ramp up to a rank 9 demotion or flat out removal. Or if there is a seriously long time between violations, depending on the severity of the violation a second warning might be more appropriate. The officers will review all violations on a case by case basis

Rankings and Promotions

Everything in life is rated and ranked, get over it. Here is our rankings and what they mean

Rank 9 – Recruit 1st class: This is the rank that new members and those who are in trouble are corralled. Follow the rules and you will be out of here quickly. Rank 9s cannot use /as. New members, note your toons for promo to rank 8 (this goes for alts of guild members as well).

Rank 8 – Soldier of Fortune: A minimum of 2 months in guild with no issues, respects all guild rules - promo to rank 7. At times there will be a wave of new guildies (before 2 months are up) invited, should this occur an officer will promote current rank 8 members to rank 7 to keep track of which guildies came in at what wave. Can wear the guild emblem.

Rank 7 – Squad Leader: Shows loyalty to the guild, comfortable with interacting with guild and alliance members. Loyalty is everything in LM; should there be an instance where ones loyalty is questionable, this is the rank you will stay.

Rank 6 – Sergeant at Arms: Helps guild/alliance members on their quest to make stronger toons, actively talks to them and answers questions.

Rank 5 – Chief: Any players having active toons in other guilds, GM’s of other active guilds or have complete loyalty but not wishing to move towards officership stay at rank 5. Can summon guild banner and invite to guild. This rank is where one shows the interest in moving up the ranks to officership. Must have a knowledge of what guilds are in the alliance and have the respect of the alliance members to move forward.

Rank 4 – Champion: You have showed interest, are respected and respect others and ready to start your initiation to becoming an officer of LM. This rank gets you started to become an Officer in Training (rank 3). The officers of LM will advise all guild members and alliance members of your interest in becoming an officer. This rank gives you the time, should you have other active toons in other guilds and such, to put them in LM, take care of loose ends, and promote them all to rank 4. Also here you will learn all the guilds in the alliance as well as their person of contact (GM’s) and observing the officers on how they handle issues, should they arise, before being promoted to rank 3. Also at this rank you are to have read and understood the guild charter in its entirety.

Rank 3 – Officer in Training: Congratulations you can know speak in /o. You are expected to participate in officer discussions that involve a range of topics that include but are not limited to membership, guild events, disciplinary actions, and potential alliances. You also get access to locked guild vaults. At this rank the officers will be observing how you handle issues and give you certain tasks to complete (clean the guild house vaults, sing a song to the alliance, Review the Show offline under the social tab to ensure everyone has a note and consistency with each guild member’s current rank etc). At this rank it is your responsibility to get to know each and every guild member as well as have a relationship with as many Gm’s of each guild within the alliance and alliance members (knowing this helps a great deal when it comes to drama). This rank is short term to either Rank 2 or, should you or the officers decide becoming an officer is not suitable, return to any previous rank.

Rank 2 – Officer: You are a full officer now and understand your responsibilities. Now you have real responsibility to deal with, Legendary Mercenaries is also leader of the alliance, and sometimes you will be called upon to handle things in absence of the GMs. In addition to knowing your guild members and the alliance, you will also have an understanding about most of the alliances on the server and the gm’s of each guild. Can enable motd and omotd messages. Can promote up to rank 2.

Rank 1 – Commander: Same as Rank 2 however anyone at this rank has earned the respect of most of the server. Can promote up to rank 1.

Rank 0 – Guild Master: Unlike most other guilds, we use a multiple GM system (usually 3) which makes things run smoothly and usually means there is a GM on most of the time. GMs have the keys to the castle and can alter the alliance, guild house, rankings, and are the final word on all issues, questions, and conflicts. Gm’s ensure to the best of their ability to set amotd messages. LM also has a facebook page created by Pentegarn in which the GM’s also take care of but are not mandatory to. Under no circumstances can a GM sell their account(s). Should a rank 0 decide to do so one must step down from GM.

LM on the ‘world wide web’

We have a guild site : http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?G ... bID=166408
We have a facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Legendary ... 4193837673
We have a forum on Gaheris.net : http://www.gaheris.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=37

Some of these things are in use. Others, less so. But the links are all there in case you need them.

Guild Buffs

Done on a set schedule as follows

Sunday: Crafting Experience or Realm Points at the officers discretion
Monday: Realm points and Experience
Tuesday: Realm points and Experience
Wednesday: Realm points and Experience
Thursday: Realm points and Experience
Friday: Realm points and Experience
Saturday: Realm points and Experience

Meetings

Guild meetings are rare, but if you are online when one happens, attendance is mandatory (it is the only mandatory attendance event we have so in the grand scheme of things it is not so bad really). Usually they concern new rules, or that the guild treasury has hit the big 100p mark.

Events

Any guild sponsored events are just for fun, you are not obligated to attend or be online for them. Events may be ran by anyone, if you need events posted on the facebook page, contact a GM, though usually they get them up there on their own pretty well.

Guild Dues

2% of all coin dropped from monsters fought goes to the guild treasury. What do we do with it? Nothing. At least nothing that has anything to do with the guild. When the treasury hits 100p, we do some sort of big raid to celebrate and then the money is distributed back to the membership in some way to be determined by the officers.

The Guild House(s)

We have one guild house which all members have limited access to, which includes some vaults and all merchants. There is a second guild house across from the main guild house (Manwithpowerup's house) which has full access to all guild members. The vaults are for the most part stocked with potions, respec stones, and artifact scrolls. Members are welcome to refill anything if they want to. But usually rank 0s and rank 1s take care of it.

Added these rules. They were put into the charter draft a couple weeks ago or so, just forgot to put it here

New edits

A week or so ago I edited the rules to be the entire guild charter and for now this is the defacto place to read them (also they are on the FB page but not every LM member has a FB account)

Also made some cosmetic changes (bolded the titles of sections and enlarged the titles' font)

A slight change to the charter section has been added under guild dues. Whereas before we would lotto the plat off, we are now redistributing it in more creative and useful ways that more than just a couple lucky members can enjoy.
